Okavango

El río Okavango es un largo río africano que nace en Angola, en una zona bastante lluviosa. Tras un recorrido de casi 1.000 km penetra en una cuenca, ya en Botsuana, donde ha formado una extensa región aluvional  conocida como el delta del Okavango. Se trata de un río alóctono.

Tiene mucha vida silvestre que habita allí libremente los mamíferos más representativos son :Los leones del Okavango son famosos por su tamaño y fortaleza, los leopardos, los elefantes, los rinocerontes, búfalos negros,
perros salvajes y por último, el guepardo.
Además también hay mucha  variedad de aves como el águila marcial.

 

La mejor época para ver aves y vegetación es entre noviembre y abril (época de lluvia) y para ver los mamíferos, entre mayo y octubre cuando las aguas bajan.
Tiene una gran importancia que forma la frontera del sur de Namibia y el norte de Angola.

The Okavango river is a long African river which rises in Angola in a rainy area. After 1000km of distance, it pierces in a watershed, in Botsuana, where it has formed a large flooded area known as the Okavango´s delta.
